In response to inquiries by MENA News Agency concerning statements attributed to the Spokesperson for the Ethiopian government with regards to evidence of Egypt’s support to the Ethiopian armed opposition through financing and training, Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid reaffirmed on Monday the 5th of October Egypt’s absolute respect for Ethiopia’s sovereignty, and non-intervention in its internal affairs.
He added that high level-communications are currently being conducted between both countries to preserve the positive environment and the gains that were achieved in bilateral relations during the recent period. The Spokesperson urged vigilance against any attempts to harm the brotherly relations between Egypt and Ethiopia on the governmental and popular levels. He further added that the ongoing communications between Egypt and Ethiopia reflected their mutual recognition of the special nature of the relations between both countries and their shared interests and destiny
